In 1963, upon earning an Economics Degree from Lamar University, Mr. Johnson went to work for a Commodities Company. After working in the stock market for a number of years, Mr. Johnson then obtained a law degree from the University of Houston in 1967. Upon graduation, he worked for Hon. Joe J. Fisher, then Chief Judge for the U.S. District in the Eastern District of Texas. Since that time, Mr. Johnson has litigated numerous cases throughout the State of Texas and has served as national coordinating counsel for a number of manufacturing defendants throughout the entire United States. Due to his significant involvement in the Federal Court system, Mr. Johnson maintained a heavy maritime docket wherein he was the counsel of choice for the Port of Beaumont representing the ship owner defendants. Mr. Johnson was instrumental in assisting in re-design of ships reducing the number of claims being filed against vessel owners. As a result of his experience in maritime litigation, Mr. Johnson was awarded a Proctor in Admiralty by the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Mr. Johnson was the previous owner and is now Of Counsel for the firm of Pipkin Ferguson, PLLC. Mr. Johnson's extensive experience in Commodities/Investments/Security transactions, as well as his experience in maritime law, mass/toxic tort claims as well as personal injury and product liability suits, not only makes him an excellence resource for this firm, but adds to the necessary depth in trying complex litigation matters.
